RARE EXPORTS: A CHRISTMAS TALE (2010)

Rare Exports is a tale of the beginning of the legendary old man you know nowadays, with a dark twist. The first 10 mins is already terrifying. A boy opening a book “The Truth about Santa” finding out that the original Santa Claus is a devil-like-goat-face-with-horns creature torturing naughty kids and making a stew out of them. (This reminds me a lot of Grimm brothers’ original dark tales of well-known bed stories). The idea of deconstructing Santa being a child-eating mythological being is genius.
Rare Exports is brilliant, very well-crafted. The best horror fantasy i’ve seen this year. I only wish it could’ve shown more of the “real Santa”, because there’s too much naked old elves i could handle seeing.
