As the first generation of the fellowship continues their unexpected journey to the Lonely Mountain of Erebor, this part deux from The Hobbit trilogy is easily a much fast-paced, action-packed, barrel of fun sailing up the river than its predecessor.
I went to the cinema filled with families and kids, and they very much enjoyed it. Being labeled as a snooze-fest flick from general audience, The Desolation of Smaug proved that it managed to capture the whole 161 minutes of our attention. If it were a book, this second installment is definitely a page-turner (Oh wait– it is a book). I didn’t even feel it was near the end until I found myself yelling at the screen “DAMN YOU, CLIFFHANGER!”.
PS: Keep your eyes peeled in the very very beginning of the film. You wouldn’t want to miss anyone.
